Damaged inkjet cartridge?

The instructions for an inkjet cartridge for my fax machine say very clearly not to touch the print head or electical circuitry during installation. My friend who fitted it wasn't careful where he touched it and it has never worked. The previous one still works so I'm confident that the machine isn't faulty. Can touching the circuits on a new cartridge really stop it functioning? If so, can it be mended or is it a bin job?

Well it can, but I think you'd have to be pretty brutal for it not to work. I would clean the cartridge in warm water and leave to dry, and try again.
