popup javascript to remove the page address
4 Answers
hi we have some javascript that creates a popup window.
we have put in the codes for status, directories, toolbar, location, menubar and put them all to no.
however when it open it still has a white bar at the top that states the url of the page that has opened.
you can see it at www.michaelberendt.com/index2.htm
then click on the photos link (old fashioned camera on it) and you will see what we mean.
we would also like to remove the bottom section of the popup as well so just the page open and nothing surrounding it at all.
any help please
thanks lots

It's a really clever site - the programmer is obviously talented ... but (there is always a but)
my personal thoughts on the accessibility of the site is that the design is too fussy ... chasing that bl@@dy revolving menu would be a good as a game for a harry potter site (or the half blood prince) ... sort of quiddich around the rosie. But I lost interest before I hit more than a couple of options
the popup idea is good ... but strangely my popup blocker ruined that - so perhaps the concept needs a rethink.
the collage idea very good - I'd like the clickables full tone ... the background ones slightly frosted so you know which will and which won't lead to a link
once in there though the page turning is simple and very effective - excellent.
I know the site is still being developed ... and you need a hook. but unless this is anything other than an exhibit of java beans you are in danger of having over egged the pudding.
if it's intended to showcase michael .. the people who are in a position to buy won't want to play space invaders to see a couple of pikkies.
quite often less is the new black (if you get my drift)
if it's advertising the builders work ... I'd start with a boring old standard entry leading to the quirky stuff.
I'm just one crusty old git ... but before you go much further down the road - test the site on as wide a spread of people as you can - not just friends - and not your auntie Doreen.
the whole thing is quite off the wall .... for me some of it is too quirky - some are certainly keepers ... and quite a lot I'd ditch unless you know your audience.
sorry - that didn't answer your question did it?

glad you took it as a crit ... not as a flame - it wasn't meant to be.
I said I was an old git ....
I still prefer black and white!
could the menu be made to spin just one position at a time .... or to respond to the pointer by swinging round to the chosen option and then switching to that page?
rather than the bewildering range of motions it responds to at the mo
It's odd when you think about it ... all us old gits participated in the swinging whenevers ... did the drugs ... bought the white album ... thought sgt pepper was radical .... now we just wonder why derdrie barlow still cries so much and whatever happened to that nice mike baldwin?
the popups didn't get past my blocker ... but I trusted you and disabled it ;-)
(forgot to say ... the background is good ... esp liked the birds
If that's the trend ... and they are your audience ... that's how it should look. ... and jut ignore us - but it's limiting your audience to a very niche group. (which could well be your aim) - and is fair enough
