I have discovered more about these people. But first, a question. Is it illegal under UK law for some outside agency to place software on your computer without your knowledge or consent? Which is what Platte seems to have done in my (and, I suspect,. many others') case. I am being billed for 29.99 for a site called www.getfilmsnow.com. I have no recall of signing up to this site. Have others had the same experience? Personally, I intend writing to Ofcom about it. I think there is some very sharp practice going on here. What do others think?

simple. several months ago, this thing appeared on my desktop from platte claiming i owed them money. i don't know anything abt platte or how i am supposed to owe them anything. i posted this on this site several weeks ago and it seems i am not the only one to have been targeted by this mob. what they do is implant software on your desktop without your knowledge. i reckon this falls foul of the data protection act.
Hmmm.
