Dying PC monitor
2 Answers
My PC monitor is about to die, it now is very dark and only shades of blue!! I have a new flat screen one with a new PC in a box- can I just swap the new monitor for the old one- is it just a matter of plugging it in, or does it need CDs and set ups and the like?
Quick help appreciated before it dies totally and I can't see what I'm writing!!

There is a strong chance they are different and to get your old PC to work on the new screen you will need a (relatively) cheap adapter. If they are the same you can just plug in now. In both cases you should not need any stuff.

Most LCD monitors require a refresh rate of 60Hz, whereas most CRT monitors use a much higher refresh rate - change the refresh rate BEFORE you plug in your new monitor. Also LCDs work best with the resolution set to exactly match the native resolution of the monitor, so check the specification of the monitor and set the resolution to match.
