boiler problems

Hi, Wondered if any one could help me out. we have a ideal classic boiler, which doesn't seem to be working. we try to tuen the hot water and 'heating advance' on and it clicks and ignites for about 20secs. then it makes like a 'kettle' noise, when its boiled, and goes off. please could some one get back to me, as this is reli annoying.

If the heating has just been switched on after standing, the pump may be stuck, and the boiler will overheat because the water is not circulating. The click could be the High Temp cut-out. Switch the heating on and listen to the pump. If it isn't running try tapping it.
