The executives of JVC wouldn't be pleased to see you including them among the 'cheapo' brands. They're Japan's longest established manufacturer of TVs and well-respected for their innovations. (They invented the VHS video recorder). JVC is part of ********** and thus tied in with such well-respected brands as Panasonic and Technics.
When a company like DSG International (which owns Currys, Dixons, PC World, etc) are seeking to source their 'own brand' TVs, they'll look for the best deal for each model. So they might get an LCD TV from one manufacturer and a plasma TV from another. But both will be branded 'Matsui'.
Similarly, WalMart/Asda may use several different companies for their 'Durabrand' products.
Likewise Comet (Pro-Line) and Tesco (Technika).
