I sent text message to my friend on holiday in spain and I checked my charges.I was just charged the usual 12p per message re vodafone. Does the person in Spain have to pay to receive my message. Would like to know if same applies to Bulgaria as my daughter is going there this week. Thanks for replies from anyone that has checked this out.

Basically yes they do

Whenever a mobile is used aboard any texts or calls received the sender or maker of the call pays the normal rate and the receiver (the person aboard) pays for the international part of the call/text

And it can get really expensive for them!!!
