There are a few companies offering satellite broadband but I don't know what the pricing is like. I'm guessing that if you have mobile coverage then you are not too far into the sticks so getting a landline installed would probably be your best bet. Or you could buy a wireless (WiFi) card for the laptop and travel to your nearest wireless hotspot to do your surfing.
Satellite may be the way to go but you won't be able to play games online or use VoIP things like Skype because the lag would be unbearable. Fine for browsing and getting email though. Oh and Instant Messaging. Not sure what prices are like, last I saw they were considerably more expensive than ADSL.
A new technology that is or will be available very soon is wireless blue tooth, using a blue tooth card it is possible to connect to the internet in many public areas with blue tooth transmitors and in time anywere in whole cities.
Scarew - don't you mean wifi? I've never heard of nor can I see the point of a Bluetooth hotspot. It is known as a PAN rather than LAN.
