Hi, this may be a dumb question, but I'm not sure how dect works or what it means. Anyway I have a set of 5 Binatone cordless handset phones, only 2 are working now. If I buy a quad set of phones (not necessarily binatone) that allow up to 5 handsets, will one of my existing handsets work with it? Many thanks

DECT is simply a standard used for wireless communication, it can be used for many things but phones are the most common by far, it stands for Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications BTW

Because it is a standard then in theory you should be able to "pair" any DECT handset with any DECT base station, though you may not get some of the advanced features.

so short answer, yes you should be able to pair one of your existing handsets with a new base station regardless of who makes it.

Great thanks
Up to a point, Chuck.

To guarantee compatibility, the two units need to be also 'GAP compatible' - not all DECT units are.

Thanks for the help I bought panasonic and the binatone register OK with the handset for most features. They are GAP compatible.
