When my light is plugged into the live mains but isn't on, does it use and standby current?

Well looking at this link I would say yes as it has to "know" when you touch it.

agree with ll_billym

Anything that you can turn on without using a big clunky on/off switch must be using power at all times so it knows when to switch it's self on

Yes it will be using electricity but not much as it has to know when you touch it to turn on....
