I think I know the answer to this before I ask but just in case...

Is there any way to import an MS Outlook 2007 calendar into a Windows calendar (.ics) on Vista?

Open Outlook and go to File, Import and Export
Export to a file
select Comma Separated Values (DOS)
select Calendar folder
select name and location of file and then Next

now go to http://www.google.com/calendar/ and sign in or register
click on Settings
click on Import Calendar
select the file by browsing to where you just exported it
click Import

Now, Export the calendar by going to Settings again and clicking on Calendars
click on your Calendar name
in Private Address section, click the iCal button
this opens a window with a link to your ics file
click the link to download the file

Open Windows Calendar
go to File, Import and browse to your newly created ics file, make sure to update your existing calendar instead of creating a new one
click Import
And if Alanis Morissette had read this, she might have really known the meaning of ironic.

Excellent, it worked, thanks Chuck

No doubt your answer was really clever rojash but it was so clever it went clean over my head
The irony is in having to use a google component to get data from one MS App to another.

Alanis Morissette wrote a song about irony, which was unintentionally funny insofar as most of the situations she cited weren't at all ironic - she simply didn't get irony!
I did get it rojash and thought it was a funny comment and as you quite correctly say most of the lines in the song ironic are just unfortunate, not ironic at all!

it is stupid that there is no direct way to move the information from outlook to windows mail though.... Microsoft, making upgrades easy...not!!!
