Pace twin digibox / recorder

We have a Pace twin digibox (similar to the Sky plus box - but we can't get satellite) that lets us get a few freeview channels. Recently there have been a few programs I have tried to record that span midnight that have given a problem - they just keep on recording! The problem then is they fill the disc whilst awaiting the file's end marker (I guess). The only way I've found of accessing the box then is to unplug it and then reinitialise it. The programme I wanted to watch then shows in the library as being 0 secs long ("power disruption") and I have to delete it to free up the hard disc space.
Has anyone else had similar problems or know if there's any way I can recover such a recording? It was recording an episode of Damages last night. Without it the whole serial will be ruined - and it's not available on iPlayer!
