Help needed please, trying to open a word attachement, sent via email, its in word 2007, it says to down load a campatability pack, which i have done, but still wont open it!
i have word 2003, any ideas how the hell i can open this!

If so have you run it to install it?
Also the support page for the pack says:
"Users of the Microsoft Office XP and 2003 programs Word, Excel, or PowerPoint�please install all High-Priority updates from Microsoft Update before downloading the Compatibility Pack".
I think this means the updates for Office, not just the Windows updates.
Go to this page and select "Office Updates" on the left and install al the latest Office fixes.

your easiest option (unless this is going to be a regular thing)
get them to resend the file having saved it as a 2003 document - or to send as a PDF if you don't need to edit it
on the machines with 2007 - we always set the default "save as" to 2003 - far easier for the rest of the world
90% of people don't use the additional formatting - and far more than half don't have 2007.

Either go with AceTheTroll and get them to save it in an older Word format or even better ..... download the latest version of Open Office V.3 - this will open the document for you (and other ones eg. Powerpoint 2007).
