this morning i had an email from noreply@aol saying i should download their attachment as somebody had used my pc to send spam and they would fix it, so i downloaded it (i know now!)aol said they never send emails with attachments and i may have a virus-anyone else been troubled by this?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.You probably have, and that wasn't really the best idea. You shouldn't open attachments unless you know who they are from, and are expecting them. You shouldn't give any important details or passwords out in emails either.
Without meaning to be rude, I expect most people here wouldn't fall for a fake email as see-through as that. I get that all the time (important document, see attachment, in reply to your email, see attachment body.doc.exe) but common sense is not to open them.
