Kodak C813 digital camera - thoughts + comments please

A local shop is selling this for about �50 reduced from about �110. Can anyone supply me with information regarding it please - ease of use, photo quality, battery life etc. Thanks in advance.

I did a search in Google for "Kodak C813" and 3 prices came up - �49.96 (Argos), �50.16 (LambdaTek) and �49.35 (PC World Business)

So I think the �50 offer is no big deal.

There are reviews on the Argos site, but they seem a little dodgy to me. Many seem to be entered on the same day, and they all give remarkably good scores.

If they are genuine then the camera gets good marks

Seems this camera is end of life, hence the price reduction.

This is no bad thing as most digital cameras are overpriced so when they knock a lot off the price to get rid of them you are usually getting a bargain.

Also, hopefully, after being on sale for a year they have ironed out any problems.

Note it onlt has 2 xAA batteries so battery life could be a problem.

I would try and get one with 4 x AA batteries, or better still a Lithium Ion battery (not easy in cheaper cameras)

I would only ever buy a camera which takes AA batteries. They are so easy to buy home and away, if required. Lithium are better batteries, but what do you do if the power goes when you are out and wish to take a photo?

you can keep the battery charged up, sandmaster. On holiday I can take 100 photos a day (most of them rubbish, of course) and I've never been stranded by a dead battery yet. And it means you're recycling rather than constantly buying new ones.

If an AA battery goes flat, on the other hand, you may not always be within reach of a shop that sells them.

sorry, meant to add to VHG's answer: camera prices always come down. The older they are the cheaper they are. It usually means there's a newer, fancier model out. But it doesn't follow that the newer model will suit your purposes better. So always google the model number + review and see what people have said about them.
