I'm advised that some sort of password/code is advisable for wireless internet connection , in order to avoid others using your internet connection .

Can anyone provide me with an idiot proof step by step guide as to how you set up this password/code

I think the person who advised you is talking about home broadband, when you have a wireless router in your house.

3G is mobile broadband. This is either for Internet on your mobile phone or Internet on your computer via a dongle. The settings have been taken care of. You don't have to do anything.

I'm asking this question on behalf of the offspring .
The 3G thing , I think is because her internet service provider is 3G

Yes what i'm asking is how to configure the wireless router to stop other people using her internet account
3G is mobile broadband. There is no router. You have something sticking out of the side of the computer, which looks like this:

Check again who your Internet Service Provider is.

If you have home broadband and a router, and you want help configuring the router, please tell us which router you have.

However, you usually access the router settings by going to this address in your web browser:

Quite right , i've look at her computer , and that is what she has sticking out from the side .
