I just put a new CD into my CD drive, but when nothing happened, I pressed the eject button & the wee tray came out, but the CD didn't! How can I get it out?

the safest thing to do is probably to take it to a computer shop and have them open it up for you, this may cost you but it is always safer than opening your computer yourself!!!!
Opening up the computer probably won't help since it sounds like the CD is stuck in side the CD reader mechanism (though I'm not sure how this would happen). Are you sure you don't have two CD drives and youv'e not just opened the wrong one ??

Thanks for your advice - to answer "Closer", I only have one CD drive & I know where I put the CD. I was just hoping that there might be a quick & easy way of getting the CD out again without having to dissect the whole base unit, but I suspect that isn't the case, so it'll probably have to be referred to a technical expert. To answer bish_bish - it is my work computer, so I can't take it to a shop & we don't have any technical people on site, but I'll call in re-inforcements.
Try opening Windows Media Player & click "play" & "eject" or if the disc is jammed in the tray, stick a pin in the hole below the tray to open it manually.
Try opening and closing it repeatedly while 'encouraging' the CD to move with your foot. Seriously, this has happened to me and it worked, and it's only a work PC anyway!
