Samsung E250 memory card

I've got a Samsung E250 and have a memory card to go with it. I have been able to send music onto the card through bluetooth easily, but when i try to put music onto the memory card through an adapter usb on the computer, i put the the memory card into the phone and when it asks me to format it i press no, but then nothing else happens and it won't let me open what's on my memory card. Can anyone help?

they probably have to be stored in a sub folder on the memory card and not just at the root level

They're already in a music folder.
