Me - I haven't had a landline for years and rely entirely on Skype.

I do have a payg mobile phone, and last year made three calls of under 2 minutes on it.

but there was a warning in today's paper about people using Skype. The fraudsters are out in full force at Christmas time, checking conversations...pinching private details.... : (

Well I have over 30 Skype contacts who I phone using Skype (free) plus another 100 or so that I keep in touch with using Skype IM

All my landline to landline calls are now free anyway. Have a basic payg moby for any texts, and that's it.

You need a BT landline with TalkTalk, so that's a no no for me. I refuse to pay line rental

The answer is to just be careful, and not openly discuss personal details such as those related to credit cards etc...just common sense.

I can't point you yto the newspaper concerned, because we have the flaming lot by the look of the pile that my husband brings in - lol - but it also mentioned Facebook as one to watch as well - and the IE of course, which everyone knows about anyway.

...Tho I am not sure how details are retrieved from a phone convo except by eavsdropping...that could happen with ANY phone conversation....so why is skype more vulnerable? unless report referred to skype chat......

I just got Skype and chatted to my sister in Oz last night.. she showed me around her house on the webcam! it was fun. but more to the point.. it was free.
