How do I use Microsoft Outlook for my e-mail?

Could someone tell me how to change default e-mail program from Outlook Express to Outlook? Every time I try I get a box asking for the 'Microsoft Exchange Server'. Then it says it can't open the default folders or something like that. Can someone help?
