downloading for dummies!

ok, I am new to all this internet stuff and would like to know how to download music legally and free if possible. could somebody explain it to me so that i will understand ?? cheers (sorry for being so dumb!!)

you can't download music legally free... that's kinda the point! generally, you should expect to pay about 79p - �1 per track, perhaps less in bulk. personally, i prefer using apple's itunes software and music store, but there are others like napster and mycokemusic... just shop around until you find one you like - all have different quirks.
if you go open media player whilst surfing, then click on media guide, then music, there is a bar where you can type in the name of a track and search for it. There arent loads but some ! i think once you have downloaded them you can listen to them instantly whenever connected to the net for free. I came across a few i've wanted for ages. Tigga
become part of a network, just find a FTP application (file transfer protocol) and download away, you'll find most are user friendly these days. try typing "limewire" or "bearshare" into google and then install the applications onto your computer.
