Tecknet V80 mp3 player help

I have bought a Tecknet V80 mp3 player for my boyfriend for xmas, but am having a few problem with it. We have managed to put music on it, and put them in to folders, according to artists, however we can not scroll through the menu and choose what we listen to. Is there any thing we can do to stop this before I send it back?
