Since purchased the above laptop makes a load humming noice and is very noisy. Moreover, it can become very hot very quickly. Both the noise and heat happened almost as soon as the laptop is turned on. Is there a remedy to these problems?

You should have taken it back to the shop as soon as you noticed the problem - how long have you had it?

Too late. I think it is a common problem ... something to do with the fan. From some feeds I have read a suggestion has been to change the setting to silence in BIOS, but such an option is not available fo me.

Hi, I realise that your post is very old but was wondering if you ever found a solution to it? I have the exact same problem and the laptop becomes so hot that it shuts itself off after a short time.

Sony quoted me £300 for a fix, ridiculous. I think maybe I need to buy a new fan?

Any help would be appreciated.
