Over Christmas I purchased & downloaded a movie from iTunes. My question is, although I can watch this on my PC I would like to burn it to a DVD to watch on TV,is this possible & if so could someone explain how to do this & do I need special software ?
If it`s an AVI/DIVX file, you need a converter, a free one to download is sothink. You can download free from sothink site. it`s called Movie DVD Maker.
I haven`t used it myself as I`d already paid for a programme(didn`t realise there were free ones around)
You will find converting takes a long time and computer will be virtually unuseable during the process.
This is presuming you have a DVD burner and burning software, such as nero, which sothink will use to burn to the disc.
Your main problem is that tunes protect their output with DRM (Digital Rights Management) and you would need software to strip this away.
Even if you then manage to convert the files to DVD would the resolution of the files which are fine for a small screen be acceptable on a much larger tv screen ?
Thanks trish I have downloaded sothink movie dvd maker & started a conversion programme it's been running now for 2 hours & 3 mins & 7% has gone in, so as you say,it will take a long time to complete but providing it keeps running it will be interesting to view the outcome. Keep watching this site & I'll report progress. Ron.
Thanks also pauln90,i'll let you know how it works out.
I can now report complete failure, after 3 attempts over 3 days (each attempt takes approx 12 hours). The Sothink conversion programme works a treat ( you can watch the % of conversion slowly being activated) however when it is finished, the programme (now in VLC) cannot be played back, even with VLC Player. Ron.
Sorry to hear that Ron, It probably only works for downloaded avi/ divx torrent files.
If you want to download these, go to mininova. Install utorrent, for downloading your mininova films.
