Electric Shock?

I have been using an induction hob fo 7 years. In the past 3 months my grandson aged 12, who has been sitting in the kitchen approximately 10 feet away has experienced a "shock" in the back of his head and neck on three separate occasions at the precise moment that I have switched the hob on. Does anyone have an explanation for this?

1) Is he sat in the same place each time? If so, is there lots of metal there?

2) Is the kitchen steamy (cooking something) when this happens?

Sounds like you may be on to something Fo3nix. On each occasion he has sat at the same table which has a metal frame and 4 metal legs. There are also 6 chairs each of which has a metal frame and 2 metal legs. However the room is not steamy. What do you think?

I know the theory of induction, but next to nothing about the implementation found in hobs like your own.

I'd be surprised if anything like this could happen, with voltages etc. for the home.

Anyone else experienced this?

Also, is it repeatable? If he sits at the same place, with chairs roughly arranged in the same places, does this happen again and again?

As it only happens at the moment of switching on we try to keep him out of the room when this is done but if he is there he always feels it

And no-one else really feels it, consistently?

I'm really not sure what it is.

I would move the tables and chairs (ideally out of the room) temporarily, have your grandson sit or stand where he usually does, then try again. See if it happens (unfortunately!).
