An ape file is a compressed wav file so isn't a lossy format like mp3. You could either download Monkey's Audio and use this to decompress the files to wav, or as part of this prog's installation process you'd be asked if you wanted to install a plugin which will allow WinAmp to play then without decompressing them.

Oops! Try these links if they're easier:

http://www.monkeysaudio.com/

http://download.nullsoft.com/winamp/client/winamp505_lite.exe

If you install WinAmp first, then MA will detect this and offer to install the plugins so that you can listen to the files directly.

If< /STRONG> you're interested, there are also plugins available so that Nero recognises these files as audio so that you can burn them as an audio CD without decompressing them first.
