I have recently had Sky+ installed and have had little success with my first couple of recording attempts. On two separate occasions I have sat down to watch recorded rugby games and found that only about 60 minutes of a much longer orogramme were recorded before a "recording ended" message appeared. Can anyone suggest what I am doing wrong. Please don't ask me to contact Sky. I haven't the time! Thanks.

have you read the manual?
Ive had Sky + for some time and never had any problem, just find the program you want to record in the program giude highlight it then press the R button and it will then show up in the planner menu, where by pressing the green button you can get a series link to record all the episodes of, we'll say Corrie.I Use record all the time and as I said I've never had a problem, so I'm afraid that if the problem persists you will have to do what you don't want to and contact Sky
I have rarely (if ever) had a problem Sky+ missing the ends of programs.

When I record a program on Sky+ it always puts a minute or so on either end.

If you go into "services" from the remote control there are options there to set how much time you want added before and after each program.

Not sure that will solve your problem but there may be others options there that you can try changing.

Also try recording other programs on other channels (maybe a few 30 minute programs) to see if the problem effects all programs (to test it out you can record any programs, does not have to be anything you want to watch if you are just "testing").

Also make sure the rugby was not listed as two programs. Maybe you needed to record each half individualy (or did it just stop in the middle of the match?)

I remember I tried to record Children in Need once and did not realise that as far as the TV company was concerned it was not just one program but lots of little bits, you have to record each of the bits. Just a thought.
Also after you have pressed the R button and it has been added to the planner, you can go into the planner, select the program and press the i (eye) button to see what it is going to record.

It may list the start and stop time there, or at least the start time plus how long the program is (I cannot check right now as I am not at home).
Maybe the recording clashed with something else you were recording?
I'd do as VHG suggested and change your settings under services.
