When the computer is shut down the lights on the right hand side of the keyboard come on every few seconds.
I can only stop this by disconnecting the battery.
Any help would be appreciated.

if it's plugged into the mains then it's telling you it's charging.

If it's not plugged into the mains then are you sure your shutting it down and not putting it into standby?
