Wireless connection freezing

I have a Sony Vaio PCG-K315B notebook hooked up via a Gigabyte Wireless LAN card.

When my system gets the slightest knock it freezes.  This does not happen when I hook up using an ADSL modem instead.

It also doesn't happen when I use the same hardware in my old, inferior Dell laptop.

Any suggestions that does not involve me sacrificing my laptop or wireless connection?
