On the home page of Yahoo there are always news items that you can watch the video of, but when I click on the sign to watch, the video doesn't play.Do I need to download something to be able to play and watch?

I just went to the Yahoo page and in the top left of the video "window" there is a help field.

If you click that it tells you what things you need to watch the videos.

Seems you need Windows Media Player and Flash.

You can test if Flash is installed here
