why is my pc screen so small got like black sides instead of like normal>?

You have probably set the screen resolution too high.

If using XP right click on the desktop and chose properties.

On the Display Properties window select the Settings tab.

In the bottom right is a screen resolution slider, move that up and down and press "apply" till the black borders go away.

Vista is similar but I have not got it to hand to give exact instructions.

Note if you are using a laptop or a TFT screen then it will have a native resolution and the screen will look best set at that resolution.

The documentation for the screen will tell you what the "best" resolution is.
