Sound on my tomtom one suddenly stopped working - all other functions were normal. I tried a reset but made no difference. I called tomtom who went through diagnoses routine including reset again but still no sound. To my surprise it was still under warranty (2 years, not 1 as I thought).
I was told a post paid box would be sent to send it back.
Thought I would give it give it quick wipe and sprayed a bit of polish on it. Few drops went onto speaker holes so gently poked them clear with a paper clip. For some reason I tried sound again and it worked! Now wondering if it is fixed permanently or whether it should be sent back while still 2 months warranty left?
Was it the polish or sticking paper clip in that cured it?

I would send it back. There is obviously a problem which you have have temporarily fixed.

Thanks sandmaster, that's what I have decided to do. Though I am still puzzled as how even this temporary cure worked. Maybe magic polish!
so what do you think could be wrong with this picture

tomtom bloke opens the box ... opens the unit and finds a speaker covered in polish and scratches???

if you are lucky he'll do what all technicians do ... poke it with a paperclip .... bang it on the side of the desk ... and send it back with a note saying it was working when they saw it last!

if not .... well he might just send it back without a sound

Yeah well, it was only after I phoned tomtom that I discovered it was still in warranty. I had already called a independent repair place who quoted �45-60. I was only after a price for mending it so at least have saved that money.
