The part you need is called a sump hose and is available online for about 12. It is held on at both ends by spring clips and it is easy to see how they work when you take the old one off. You may need just a pair of pliers or a mole grip. Even if you have to buy a mole grip, this take the total cost to about 20 as opposed to a machine engineer call out fee.
Do it yourself...
You have identified the drum the filter and the outlet...so if you have got this far, you are most of the way to doing it.
Unplug at the mains, and turn the water supply off...
As LT says... all you need is mole grips, or wide jawed pliers and thats it.
Have a look here...they seem to have everything...
http://www.espares.co.uk/
The engineer may charge 70 to visit and identify the part..they will then order it, and return another day to fit it .
You have now spent around 160.easily...infact at this point you are close to the price of a new machine with 12 months warranty.
Have a look at espares the same place the engineer will order from.....
