I've just rescued an old laptop hard drive with XP installed . Is it possible run this as a virtual machine ?

not sure what you mean old boy

virtual machines are installed in software that emulates a pc

using the HDD in another machine (dual boot?) probably won't work because the drivers won't be right

you could use the disc for extra storage by using a USB caddy

Storage was the original plan as I bought a USB caddy so I'll stick with that , Ta
