I have a phone cable plugged into a 'filter' that came with our Sky Router. This then plugs into the socket in the wall - of which there is just one hole.

If I want to plug something else into the phone line. am I better of changing the face plate to one that has TWO holes.. or can I use one of these

Just worried that using one of these might slow down our internet connection or screw it up. Advice welcome!

you can use one of the spilters but plug it into the filter not the wall port.

Thanks Chuck - what does the filter do exactly.. I just wasnt sure if plugging things into other things that then plug into the wall is a good idea - or whether you should always try to go direct into the wall socket - so use as few plug in thingies as possible... (sorry - woman's terminology!)

when you have broadband on your phoneline the voice part of the line and the broadband part operate on different frequencies, all the splitter does is split the two parts up so only the voice part goes to the phones and only the ADSL part goes to your router.
