8pm last Friday broadband promised to be active on a line

8pm tonight (when I left work) broadband still not active!

1 engineer has been, they sent a PSTN engineer to resolve a ADSL problem!

4-5 phone calls a day, only to be told every time, "you have been passed to XXXXX department to be escalated"

Been promised, "our team will call you back within XX hours" about 15 times.... still yet to get a call back from any of them!

And I have the benefit of a business account manager, but he is not allowed to speak directly to the right people!!!

so do I think BT are good

NO NO NO
bt are pants, even if you have sky you will still have the bt line, sky are only renting it.

cable is the better route
I've had BT broadband for about 6 years and have never had any problems until I moved house......my phone line was connected on the date of moving but it took them a month to get my broadband up and running which I consider pathetic. Having said that I always have good speeds and have never had any faults in 6 years.
cazzz197,it's all very well to say that cable is better but if you are in a non cable area you've got no chance. My broadband is with BT & sometimes reception is pathetic. What I would like to know is why can't fibre optic cables be used as telephone lines are,by using standard telegraph poles instead of waiting for my rural area to have cabling buried iin the road system (if ever).
I have been with BT for 2 years since buying my Desktop PC and have not had any Broadband problems so far. The line has gone down once for a day due to a major fault elsewhere. Broadband speeds are on average quite fast and the line has been reliable . Their Technical Dept are usually very good if you seek help but there is also a Broadband Technical Help Desk which leaves a lot to be desired at times as they come up with mixed messages.
Getting through to BT can be a bit of a headache with their Automated Press 1 Press 2 nonsense but overall they have treated me quite fairly. Before you decide to switch ISP's ask BT how much they would charge in comparison to Sky'S 105. Barter with them to get the price down and they might even offer a free connection charge in order to get you on board. I know others have had problems with BT but I suppose they are the best of a motley crew of ISP's as they own all the Phone Lines.

TY for all your thoughts on the subject. I won't be using BT, well only for line rental for now.
It took them over 45 minutes just to set that up. They sent me from pillar to post and then they were rather rude about the whole thing.
So bo**ocks to them.
