BT phone line and Sky+
9 Answers
Hi folks - hopefullyt his is the right category.
I currently have a BT landline as well as the usual mobile telephones.
I have decided that as I am not using the landline that I may as well cancel it as I am paying the standing charge each quarter and only have about 50ps worth of calls itemised.
However, I have Sky+ - do I need a landline in order to get Sky+??
Thanking you all in advance
Ps - my OH also needs internet at home but I am assuming that he can sort that out without a landline
xx

You don't need it to receive and record TV, but you do need it for some of the interactive stuff and to order Sky Box Office features which is why sky insist on it.

Hammer,
The contract is different for sky+ and normal sky
with normal sky it is only for the first year (and you can buy out of that requirement if you want too) with sky+ it needs to be permanently connected regardless of how long you have had the contract (and no buy out option)
Although technically there is no reason to have it connected and everything other than the interactive stuff and box office will work fine without a phone line you are going against skys terms and conditions if you disconnect the phone line and they can stop the service because of that.
