new item at top of screen

A couple of times in the last few days an item has appeared at the top left of my screen 'MCI command handling window'. I've never seen this before. Should I be worried, and can I get rid of it?

Zacsmaster, that was useless and really unhelpful.

tearinghair, a quick google search shows that it is an error with multimedia or software.

most likely this is caused by an installation which didnt complete properly or a random error.

the best thing to do is try to replicate the error. by finding out which application causes it to be shown, you can find out which application to fix also.

Thank you, DanAB. Certainly nothing showed up on the virus scan or on AdAware. I'll watch for when it happens again and see if I can identify the source.
