Problem with own recorded DVD's

Two years ago I was bought a Digilogic DVD Player / Recorder and have used it to record lots of things I like so have a pile of own recorded DVD's.
Then it started to go wrong. It still recorded and played my own recorded DVD's but wouldn't play pre-recorded DVD's. So a friend gave me a Sony DVP-NS700V but that won't play any of my own recorded DVD's so I've been using both of them.
Now the Digilogic is dead altogether (suppose it didn't do bad really for a cheap unit - it lasted 2 years) and I can't play any of my own recordings.
I have seen a similar thread in which DVD Flick was recommended for converting the files to true DVD format and have got that programme but my disc drive isn't picking up any content on my recorded discs. It recognises and plays pre-recorded DVD's and all my CD's so I don't think it's the drive.
My DVD's are DVD+ both R & RW.
Anyone any ideas? Thanks loads for your time.

so do you have a big bin?

with own DVDs recorded on a tv recorder -
you can keep adding to the disc untill it's full
.... this is known as an open disc - and it uses non standard files to make it all possible

to make it playable on any player you have to CLOSE (finalise) the disc (this writes the information "normal" players need)

so if you haven't closed the discs (most people don't even know the option exists) - unless you buy an identical recorder - they probably won't play ... I'd be interested to know if (say) all sonys are interchangeable (I'd gess yes ... but I don't know for certain) - people only complain when it doesn't work
dvd 101 ;-0

and if anyone knows of any software that will do the job ...
