Is there an idiot`s guide to removing a floppy disk?  The wrap-around metal thingy on the end had sprung and I should have had more sense than use it.  Many thanks.

Me again........got the disk out but the metal clip is still inside...........HELP!!!!!!!
Depends if it really jammed in or just lying there inside. Try sticking a piece of double sided sticky tape to a thin plastic (obviously not metallic) stick , say a plastic knife, and (gently) feel around inside the driver? I have no idea how the inside of a floppy disk driver is made, but that's what i would try...Anybody else ?
You could try some plastic tweezers, or you can buy a new drive for under a tenner.

Thanks for the replies,folks.

A pair of tweezers, gentle pressure, and a bit of bad language....... and problem solved!

Did the little wire spring come out? If not, it may be waiting to ambush the next disc you put in.
