Dodgy Sleep Mode

Although most of the time my PC works OK, whenever it is in sleep mode or idle for more than an hour there are various problems when I start up again e.g. multiple windows open up , applications won't open or close, pointer slows down and judders , Ctrl, Alt. Del. doesn't bring up the End Task window etc. The only answer is to close down and restart and sometimes I have to do that a two or three times to clear all the problems. Any suggestions ?

Do a full windows update, check the manufactures site and download and install all the latest drivers for your system....

Other than that... well suspend/resume problems can be one of the hardest to diagnose, so good luck!

Thanks ! As far as I know I have all the updates ,they download automatically. In fact I believe the trouble started after an update about a month ago. Fortunately it's not a great hardship as long as I remember not to go into sleep mode for more than an half an hour. I have Vista which does not appear to be as stable as I would wish.
