That's the ones!

Didn't understand why the >>>>s so I googled "clackers urban dictionary" - oh dear.
After reading their second definition entry I have decided I really must stop slipping on the icy pavements.
Anyone need anything down-town?

Just cleaned out electric chip fryer, what a mess, I thought at first that I could fill it with hot soapy water and plug in, but it made such a noise that I quickly unplugged it and have scrubbed it for 1 hour, yuk!! and I hardly ever use it!!
Morning/a'noon/wateva...

Probably too late now anyway but no thanks Kit, nothing for me from down town......putting down, now that's something I could do with. I ache like hell & it's even too much effort to fling the Ming at the wall. It may be milder in theory but thanks to the rain & a howling wind up the back passage to me it feels just as cold, if not more so... I've just spotted the barometer is further back than I've seen it since inheriting it 15 months ago ....buffer it.
I scarpered last night because I was expecting a "Tut, no need for that" type reply :o) Yes, my cousin had a gyroscope, but as toys went I seem to remember they were a bit expensive so we made do with a spinner made from a matchstick poked through a cardboard circle...
<recyles sad face> http://devilcanyouhea.../2009/10/sad-baby.jpg

That's a posh bus btw, nowadays I think they just have straps to hang on to.

A chip fryer??!! I thought they'd been all been confiscated...oh, no that was chip pans. mmm, seems that Derby slipped through the basket...

We used to thread big buttons onto cotton and twiddle them, <<deep sigh>> we must have been poor! or was it cos my dad was master tailor!!
oh yes, I'd forgotten about that neti..my mum cut & saved the buttons off old clothes...There were no charity shops then, they wouldn't have been very pleased with buttonless libbies :o)
Oh, by the way neti, haven't you forgotten something?! How hot is it today? Eh?...Go on then...make my day...

oooh button twirlers, I used to make those and little tanks with a matchstick, a rubber band and a wooden cotton reel, also french knitting tops. The funny thing is that the home made knitting tops and tanks are now collectible...make me feel old or what??
Question Author
Yes, french knitting with 4 nails hammered inexpertly by an 8 yr old into the top of a cotton reel and then wind the wool round the nails somehow and it would come through the hole in the middle of the reel - great fun!

Weather robi? not much cop here, overcast and chilly but of course I'm lovin? it!!! Didn't need to put any heating on at all last night!
Question Author
Charity clothes shops, not needed as the youngest daughter of three (+ 4 bros but they don't count) I had to wear all my sissies cast-offs and as she dressed us all the same for Sundays etc I was wearing the exact same dress for years!
Question Author
Er, that should read *youngset sister of three*
Question Author
Bing Bong, Robi you've got mail! (would you rather it was Male!!)
Hello clackers
Or should that be crackers, which is what I shall end up being any minute now if this howling wind doesn't give it rest ..
I'm just living in hope that there may be a freak heatwave.
I remember doing french knitting with a cotton reel but you can get fancy ones now if you want to take it up again :)) Knitting Nancy we used to call them
.

We could make tablemats and post them to Vinny :)
Spooky Robinia,I inherited a barometer from ma in law and it's on changeable at the moment.I don't think the needle has shifted since December :)
Tut ..overcast and chilly in Swettiland ..that makes a change :)
We're having a takeaway meal tonight ....whoopeeeeeee..no cooking .
Hope you are all as well as can be on this grotty day xx
Ooh, have you got the breeze up too shaney? My barometer's at 9 o'clock = much rain! It's turning bitterly cold here, Accu says it feels like -2C. and it's gonna take more than a tablemat to keep me warm, I've been frozz all day. I had a posh french knitting dolly for xmas once & I'm pretty sure I've still got her amongst my treasures. I'll have a poke around tomorrow & bring her out for a photo-shoot.

Mmm.... neti I'd never thought about that re hand-me-downs, my sister got some of mine which were sometimes the same as she'd already had...hahaha...I'm so surprised she's never said anything, I'll ask her later, I daresay she'll be calling to say how bloomin cold she is. When we go shopping we do sometimes buy the same clothes...we just have to take pot luck as to whether we meet up in them :o)

Just soup for me I think, I feel so grotty I've got no appetite...I've got some smelly lena pudding left from last night...don't suppose it'll be very mobile tho', I might end up flinging it down a chimbley over Wooly way.
Question Author
Eugh! smelly lena - hate it with a vengeance and frogspawn, haven't eaten that since school days! Making spanish macarronis -rich and spicy! yum!
Evening possums. Did you know mascaras vibrate these days? I only found out yesterday http://www.bellasugar...ating-Mascara-3148664 (but no that's not why I went to town today:) Maybelline should make me a product developer - I invented the vibrating lipstick 35 years ago - or at least one would have thought so by the result, so I gave lipstick up and stuck to eye make-up only. BTW, why is there not a one among you has told me about Mac's Dame Edna Collection, what kind of friends are you! http://www.shoppingblog.com/blog/1218089

There's been a thaw flood in Stockholm today; at one particular pedestrian crossing there was so much water in the gutter that when cars drove past there was a 5 foot surge of water rolling in over the pavement. Apparently somebody was hit by a chunk of ice falling from a roof in Old town and had to be taken to hospital - it happens all the time... a few years back a teenage boy died that way... which is why Swedes walk in the middle of the streets in the winter - and get hit by cars instead:/

I've played that water and frying oil video over and over but I can't for the life of me hear what the guy in the yellow jacket says, please put me out of my misery Robinia...?

"What you see is what you get Possums and with this new Dame Edna collection you too can be Gorgeous, Gorgeous, Gorgeous!" ha ha ha ha ha!
ooh I don't know about vibrating mascara Kit .Robinia and I are still using up our Miners spit stuff. It lasts forever :)
I only load the slap on if I'm going somewhere special these days and that's not all that often .I don't bother round the High Street ,just lippie and hope I don't bump into any of the grande dames ,who ,come to think of it ,do actually look a bit like Dame Edna in full fig .For a provincial place some of 'em walk about done up as if they're going to a garden party .
Some of the old gals round here put the full monty on to pay the milkman .
If I fluttered my eyelashes at Mr S. these days he'd probably think I was losing my marbles .
Where's ower Jude ?
Bed time for me I think .Nite all and have a nice weekend .
Ps. Keep away from the water Kit and wear a cycle helmet ,we don't want any more accidents xx

Morning all - overecast and rain forecast for swettiland!

I've had two chip pan fires in my kitchen before I bought the leccy one, I just got carried away chatting over the wall to my neighbour and myy daughter who was about 4 at the time came and told me! Luckily these old houses don't really burn, it stays contained in oine room usually, by the heck but the soot was everywhere (twice!!) I did know enough to smother the flames and never to use water, but got fed up with cleaning the soot and repainting, Mr N was not amused!!!!

I don't wear much make-up ,never have worn foundation hate the stuff, but always wear a tad of eyemakeup else I look like a pig!!! I wear a light lippy these days as I look washed-out otherwise, a washed out pig, how attractive is that!!!!
Morning... http://treybig.org/Humor/mornings.jpg

Ooh heck neti, peg ya bloomers on tight, I see you've got some wild weather over your way, if it's not there already. It's coming this way tomorrow, I'll keep an eye out for your leggings.

I heard about the vibrating mascara a while back, don't think I'll bother, it'll only drag my diamante eyelashes off. It looks like Dame Edna's been raiding my wheelie bin...mmm, so that's what the microchips are for, blue eyeshadow detectors.
Kit, the banana man man said.... "ah felt the 'eat of it from 'ere" ...so now you know :o/...It was good of Camilla Parker Bowles to do a cameo appearance between 00.47 and 00.51 seconds

Now the cynic in me might think that they offered him 12,000 Euros to eat it...cheaper than an ad in the nationals...
