Yesterday when I was using my computer it literally went off,and I thought we had a power cut but on chequeing the electricity found it was working. My question is I found the fuse in my Dell Desktop had blown, and when I took it out the fuse was 10amps and I have never seen an 10amp fuse before so I put in a 13amp fuse in and the computer is working perfectly. But is 13amp too high,or should I only be putting a 5amp in.
For safety the fuse should be the smallest which will handle the power.
A 1 amp fuse can pass 230 watts at 230 Volts, which should be enough for any computer. If the fuse was 10 amps then perhaps it was after the voltage regulator: 10 amps at 12 Volts would be 120 Watts.
