i am considering buying an ipod 20gb. however, i am not sure whether my pc will be compatible. I have windows 2000. i have seen that you need a usb 2.0.  What does this mean and how do i know if i have one and will an ipod be compatible if i do have it?

I doubt if you have to have USB2 but USB2 is much, much faster and you will transfer your mp3s over much, much quicker. I would bet my house on your PC having a normal (slower) USB1.1 socket. In short, I bet your PC is compatible but it may take longer to transfer your songs over to it. If I am wrong and you must have USB2, you can buy a USB2 PCI card very cheaply.
