Is there any way to view all files in all folders at once on a particular hard drive, ie expand all folders on one (very large) page? I have all my MP3 files stored on their own hard drive. Each folder is the name of the artist, in each folder are sub folders with the album names and in each sub folder are the tracks on that album. i would like to be able to see all the track names at once.

I hope the above makes sense, it took several attempts to write it and even more attempts to make sense of it  !!!

I'm running XP pro

There's probably a much better way of doing it, but if the MP3s are the only thing on the drive, you could search the drive for audio files and view the results in list or detail view. You'll still need to scroll through the list, though.

I've not used it (not enough MP3's to sort), but Windows Media Player will search your drive for audio - not sure how it displays the results, and I suspect that there might be copy protection issues. WinAmp (and probably other players) offers the same function.

The other option would be to set up a database (or buy one - it will probably scan your drive for you).

Do a search for *.mp3. it will find all mp3 files on your machine (Or the drive you ask it to search)

Doing a search works fine but I would really like to see the folders and sub folders as well as the files, just like in windows explorer.

I have over 7000 files and I need to edit a few of them but finding them is turning out to be a bit of a 'mare.

If you view the search in detail view, it should say under "Name" the track names, and the "In Folder" column should say "Drive letter:\Artist name\Album Name".

I should have added that there's probably some freeware that will catalogue your MP3's as well as paid-up software.

Shortcuts in one folder? Copy all of them, right click and select "Paste Shortcut".
