On my last dozen or more thumbnails I can look at the monitor and see photos of my grandson but when I enlarge an individual one a different photo to the thumbnail appears This is because I have over written these last few.Is there any way that I can separate them to keep them all??? Thanks

Your Q isn't very clear? Have you downloaded the thumbnails from a camera?

Yes I have When I last used the camera I deleted all the photos so when it was used again the numbering of the pics started from scratch which caused the overwriting.I look at the thumbnail and when i click on it I get a different pic.on the monitor.I'm hoping to save both but....how?????? Thanks
Create a new folder, and download the pics from the camera into that - otherwise, if you copy the pics as-is from the camera, the existing files will be overwritten and gone for ever.

I may be wrong here, but every camera I have seen that would require you to do two separate steps, delete the photos, and then reset the numbering.

If so, why not just delete the photos from the camera but do not reset the numbering, then it will never overwrite old photos when you copy new ones.

Thanks to you all!!
I'm useless at organising - but I date every "download"
june09, or Summer 09 that way things stay manageable - and no risk of doing what you did

as for recovering - you could tru undelete prog

but if you can see the thumbnails - probably the best you can do is to press prt scrn
open paint - and paste the screenshot into that

you could then try the filmstrip option which might work - or might regenerate the thumbs.db file ... which will get rid forever
