Anyway, you're probably best off copying and saving any emailed photos to a folder on your hard drive and virus scanning them before opening. If you right click the file and choose "open with", you should get a list of suitable programs come up. These may include Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, Microsoft Photo Editor, and whatever photo-editing software you have. You can also "choose program" and check the installed programs on your PC for one you want to use. If you check the "always use this program to open files of this type" box, that type of file will be associated with that program until you change the association.
It may be worth checking the file extension (ie. is it .jpg, .gif, .bmp etc) as it may be that the photo isn't a photo (especially if it's not from a trustworthy source).
