Do I need to uninstall the previous?

Nearly all Firefox problems can be solved by simply reinstalling the program 'on top of itself' (i.e. without uninstalling). All your bookmarks and personal settings will be preserved.

However (assuming that you're in the UK) don't use the link provided by Tamborine. It will load the US dictionary and Google searches won't offer the option to restrict your search to UK sites. Use this link instead:
