Can any one tell me how to display an analogue clock in a side bar on desktop with Vista please

above side bar, click on + sign
right click on clock face and select add
beside the installed clock there is an x and
something that looks like a spanner.
click on that and select 1 of 8 faces.

how do I get sidebar on? I have vista and my sister had it displayed on her laptop but dont know how to get sidebar
