Apple Panther Sidebar

All the icons for applications, music, movies etc have dissapeared from my sidebar when I open my harddrive. If I open a folder on my desktop they are still there, I have tried preferences and view options, and all the settings are correct any ideas guys????

Deleting three files from
user/library/preferences and logging out may help clear
things up (and don't hurt anything by letting them
rebuild themselves). They are:
LSApplications
LSClaimtedTypes
LSSchemes

Cheers Gromit, really appriciate your help on this. Have already tried all this, but no joy. I think I was a little vague in my original question, I have been using Mac's for the last decade, and usually know how to sort things out but this has really stumped me. The only good thing about this is that it is my Mac at work, not home, so I think I will just have to put up with it. Thanks for the advice anyway dude. Bloody G5"s eh, yeah it's all powerfull, but why mess with perfection????, still hate PC's though, keep it Mac bro
